Sites 34 & 35 (Camper: Nellie)

Our friends, The Crowders (Joe, Mindy, Brooke & Lyla), joined us for a “Pre-Thanksgiving” camping trip. We booked 2 sites next to each other and had the best time!
We played games, sat by the campfire, relaxed in hammocks, chopped wood & watched an outdoor movie one night – all the things that make up a perfect camping trip.
The weather was perfect – chilly at night, but just right for hikes during the day. Our first one we tackled was Penitentiary Hollow – absolutely awesome! Huge rock outcroppings (frequented by rock climbers and rapellers), plunging drop offs, narrow passages and gorgeous views of the lake. Probably one of my favorites!
The next day we hiked Cross Timbers Trail. This was totally different, but loved it too. More of a flat, equestrian trail hike.
Took a fun girls’ trip to Walmart for supplies.

Decorated ginger bread houses with Mindy’s sister, Patricia, who came in for a day.
The kids had a blast together climbing rocks & exploring.
Cameron got to sleep in the Crowder’s camper and Nolan was a trooper, being the only boy (at least he has Chewy)
Tons of opportunities for “Christmas card worthy” backdrops for family pics.

Such a fun trip and we definitely want to visit this park again!
